In 1638, John Lewger built St. John’s house in the New World. It’s walls witnessed the first stirrings of the great struggles that would dominate the continent for the next three centuries: wealth; religious tolerance; and slavery. Abandoned one hundred years later, its walls fell; soil buried the remains. Ghost Walls tells how scientists and historians brought St. John’s long-gone walls back to life.
